Oh goody - another one!
Hello rockchick, I am sorry to hear about your divorce and hope that you are moving on from it in all ways.
Am also sorry to hear about your real life scares with bdsm, and pleased to see they have not scared you so deeply that you have buried your fantasies.
This is a great place to learn about the lifestyle, both r/l and online, there is a mixture of people here from both communities, and with the whole range of breadth and depth of experiences.
The forums are a safe place, mainly because they are open and members are supported primarily by the community, and also by the team of mods and supermods. Beyond here, I would warn you to take care, although you are unlikely to be physically hurt from an online relationship, mental pain can be much greater, as many will attest to. I have a mail box filled with the evidence of broken hearts and dreams. Online can be very, very real, which can be a negative, but, as I trust you have found when playing elsewhere, a big, big plus.
I hope you have found the following threads. They are great starting points, the first is full of good advice, the second is a humourous look at what is often seen on line, but none the less, has some excellent guidance. Just so you know when reading the second one, a wannabe, is someone who knows very little about the lifestyle, probably has even less experience, but implies otherwise.

I sincerely hope that is the case because if it is not, we will all have failed.Originally Posted by rockchick
