I know from experience that mental tasks can be very hard but extremely rewarding.

i agree, although i think they can be as helpful in focusing the mind on submission as they are rewarding.

Wontworry doesn't set a huge number of mental tasks as we spend quite a lot of time discussing many elements of DS on an intellectual level in the natural course of things...but i remember once, following some unfortunate incidents (not connected with him), i was seriously questioning the whole submissive thing, to the point where i found it very difficult to even carry out my tasks (yeah, i'm NOT perfect, you see!). He asked me to write four sentences on my inner thighs when i was going out, that answered three specific questions, and then to write a short assignment on it in terms of why i picked the sentences and what i thought about them. The whole thing helped me LOADS, which was the point, and, oddly, i found it equally if not more humiliating than many other things we'd done, which is always good.

Anyway, i'm not suggesting mental taks have to go to those lengths necessarily, but wanted to add that, yeah, i agree that they can be really helpful and rewarding and make one stop and think rather than dashing through their DS lives.

My pet did fairly well on his task morning task. He reported on his compliance with his morning task on a regular basis. His evening task was very much lacking in obedience. I have noticed this happening more and more. He seems to get excited and loses track of his complete assignment. I have been tasking him quite a bit.

I have gone to a format of giving him all his tasks for the week ahead of time. I believe he is losing his focus because he wants to get to the other tasks. My question. Should I cut back on his tasks as a discipline until he learns to follow instructions or should I start to associate a punishment for when he doesn’t comply with his assignments?

He does seem to be making a habit of adjusting his tasks at the last moment when he has plenty of time to review them and bring up his concerns so they can be modify. I find that I am reminding him to review his tasks so I can get them modify in a timely manner. Then still having to adjust them when he starts to perform them.

I do believe this may be normal in a new relationship but I want to get this resolved. This is a habit I do not wish to encourage.

I also need some examples of acceptable rewards. I have been told that mine may be too generous and could be seen as submissive.

The two are not mutually exclusive, perhaps both would be the best strategy? Are you making things too complicated or perhaps setting things that are too dificult? Is there also unaceptable disobedience?

Now that's a tricky one because a true submissive must surely be rewarded by further pain and/or humiliation, which can get so confusing that perhaps it's better not to go too far down that road. In my experience a reward is exactly the same as in the vanilla world. Something the person really wants but is unable or not allowed to have except when they deserve it.

For instance, while I was away this week lucy had some severe hassles (not Ds related) to get through. On my return I looked over what she had done and was so impressed and proud at how she had handled everything that I gave her what is currently (possibly always will be) her ultimate reward. She was allowed to wear her collar while she carried out today's tasks. Now on its own that may not seem much, but it is something very special to her/us and therefore I only allow it on extremely rare occasions when I am not physically with her.

I think this is how it should be with any submissive. Rewards should be few and far between, should be deserved rather than given for minor successes (for which only encouragement and praise should be given), and should be something that is special to that submissive.

You have brought of some very good issues that I need to consider. Although the increase in tasks were at my slave's request it may be that it is more than he can handle. The 'misunderstandings' did not start to occur until recently and frankly took me by surprise. He seemed quite excited about the increase and higher level of his tasks but I must agree that they may be too difficult or complicated. All disobedience is unacceptable unless there was a true misunderstanding. My problem with these misunderstandings is that he has had plenty of time to get clarification or to confirm his interpretation of his tasks ahead of time. Thank you for your example. While pain is not my slave's passion he does crave some humiliation but his greatest pleasure comes in performing the tasks I assign. Or so that has been the case so far. Your advice on limiting rewards is extremely helpful. Although I truly believe he deserved the one he has received. I will not be so generous in the future. I must admit it has been awhile since I posted and many things have happened. My favorite pet has moved onto explore his submissivness by making himself available to many dommes. I wish him luck and happiness as he moves into a more extreme experience.

My other pets are currently transitioning into to real life relationships. I am sure their master and mistresses will be as pleased with them as I was.

So now Mistress Jade needs to find herself a couple of online pets. I am looking to take on 1 female and 1 male to train to please me.
