What makes a slave?

The thing that made me a slave was meeting my Master. I did not identify as a slave before he came along, I considered myself a sub. I didn't even understand being a slave before. So no, I would not submit to just anyone.

In the strictest sense of the word, a TRUE slave's "Master" is slavery itself. A dedication to surrender regardless of whim, preference or circumstance. Therein lies the dander for the modern slave, for in this day and age, a slave has the unlikely privilege of choice. The true slave, with the purity of the submissive spirit, will be easily seduced by any Master who shows interest, eagerly wishing to submit for the sake of submission alone. A fine ideal, but a dangerous one. The slave hopes for and perhaps counts on integrity in the Master that may not be present. And so it falls to the slave initially, who may not wish to have this burden placed upon them, to evaluate and select a worthy Dom/me, forcing infatuation to the side in an attempt to find true compatibility. And in so doing, the slave remains true to their ideals, for when this happens, they are, in effect, serving themselves. They have become their own slaves, searching carefully for the right Master to take the job from their hands.
