I don't know if this is normal but I am having constant problems accessing the site. Almost daily I have issues getting on. Often when I try accessing the site, I can get onto the main page where the links to all the parts of the site are located http://www.bdsmlibrary.com/. When I try to access either the forums section or the stories section, I am sometimes unable to connect to those pages for quite some time, whether in firefox or IE.

FYI ALLL,

Even with the new server in place we are growing so fast that we have outgrow the RAM capacity of the unit. We are currently in progress of updateing same this takes a few days to do and $$$$$ .

PLEASE be patient all will be back on track (crosses fingers) by weeks end.

UPDATE!!!

The new RAM has been installed as of today!!!

Hopefully this will resolve the "recycling" shut down issues

Something's gone wrong with the image attachments.

First they were showing up as text links instead of thumbnails. Now I get a message saying I don't have permission to access them even though I'm logged in.

Can you fix it?

Yea leo9, I'm having the same problem too.
And when I try to move out of the thread and click on any of the top tabs, it will also give me the forbidden error as well.

I've just noticed over the last couple of days that most, if not all, of the problems the new format had with Firefox have been cleared up. Congratulations to the staff for their diligence and hard work. The new format looks much better to me now. It's like getting new glasses!

I'm aware of that, and I appreciate the amount of time and effort you have all put into the site. But I doubt that any of it was simple!

Noticed last night and again today, upon logging into the forum, I get the same screen as if it had failed. I noticed (the second time I tried last night, that I was "online" per the member list at the bottom of the page, but only got the intro topics as if I wasn't.

Pressing the "new posts" button or the "forum" button took me away from the logon page and thereafter it acknowledges me by name as logged on (upper right.)

It's only a problem, per se, if people don't realize their logon attempt worked. But even as an old hand with such, I almost left to try another day... and as I said, it happened today again.

Can't repeat the error... so... I would say perhaps it's either unique to a browser, user, etc. But we'll keep an eye on it as we always do with such things & see if it creeps more.

For the folks that have been around the Library for awhile, you know at times we have ""Issues"" with our servers and drives!

YES, once again the system went haywire!! We were down completely for 3-4 days and now we're re-building once again!!

Data loss we have seen so far is as follows;

Forums and Blogs everything from 8/19 thru today 10/5, this includes Posts, Threads, Name changes, Tags, Etc.

Stories a bit more everything from 6/27 thru today,,HOWEVER we have additional back-up for stories and will be re-built ALMOST entirely, We may only be missing some 6/27 thru 7/15.

Chat is Chat it's live so no data loss BUT may have members that need to Re-register, Name changes, Tags Etc.

Once again I ask PLEASE BE PATIENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are working day an night to get everything back on track!

In addition we are also making a network and server change, more to follow!

Would you like a professional consultant to look into your data back-up architecture. (I know you all are smart and I know you wouldn't "let" this happen were it not for some idiosyncracy of the board or a cost factor, but perhaps a third eye might find a flaw you've overlooked or a cost effective alternative.) There was a time I was a pretty good systems architect.

Good luck to you guys rebuilding the site. The frustrations we feel are minuscule compared to yours. I know how annoying it was to rebuild my own system after an HD crash. Something like this has got to be 1000 times worse!
