I think and feel very strongly that you (or anybody else) have no business ignoring the rules of the English language and inflicting on the reader that silly rigmarole of 'Y/you'. It breaks the rhythm of reading to the point that it becomes a chore, and seeks to convey, through lazy if arbitrary typographic conventions, what should be conveyed through words, turns of phrases, descriptions, whispered asides, all of which are a writer's legitimate and time-honoured tools of the trade.

Nothing personal, I had to say it... I am astonished that native English speakers (not my case) seem to harbour no feelings whatsoever about this issue.

Thank you for sharing. The poems are beautiful. I like!

Blog – is default layout – I suppose – nothing to say there.
The other site is nice – I like the feel, but damn – it is hard to read girl! All those sprinkles and dark purple in thin font – not easy on the eyes :shake: , I do like pictures though !

lots of people don’t like it, lots of people do. As far as I know TG is native English speaker, and as far as I know he is irked by it as much as you are. It annoys me but I can get pass it, as I can get pass other things that I don’t enjoy and others do (unless they want to do it on my skin, hehehe). While bugs posts always contain it – her sites are void of it and, in my opinion, nice read … don’t get stuff like that get to you jeanne 

I really enjoyed your poems, thank you for sharing them with us. You’re very talented! The purple font on black is very goth, but I have to agree it's very hard on the eyes.

I read chapter one of your story also, you certainly have a great feel for domination/submission. Only, believe me, I’m no expert but I found the number of he, she, his, and hers too repetitive. To me, it kind of bogged down a good read. Well, you did ask.

thank Y/you A/all so very much for Y/your honest opinions and helpful advice *smiles* it is always nice to share feelings with A/another, especially feelings from such a very taboo subject. although i do not have very many BDSM poems and/or stories written i am still trying to find my expression through words. 6 months ago i would not have had this kind of passion or guts to write something so hidden. BDSM has opened a gateway of emotion that has been painful, beautiful and amazing in it's many ways that it has touched me.

i have always used S/switch typing as my Master had requested this the day i submitted to Him. it has always been treated as a form of respect in my opinion. i do apologize if it did side track the meaning of the words intended on the page as i had no intentions of doing this. i am still, sadly, not going to modify my typing methods as i think that it provides the reader with a deeper level of D/s relationships and portrays very accurate feelings. i do agree, however, think that it may serve as a diversion to T/those that are not accustom to these ways of writting.

i will be switching the font color on that one site, so that is does not seem so hard to read. *laffs* i, myself, thought that the color was a bit too dark but i had my doubts. i guess i have the answer to that question now *grinz*

Alex, i thought this too as i wrote it and it does strip away from the story a bit. it is a touch repetitive now that you mention it. i shall take aim tomorrow to remedy this matter. *nodnod*

Well Eva, I allow 'things like that' to get to me because I care deeply for the language I'm using, be it English, French or whatever. Spelling, grammatical and typographical conventions are not arbitrary, they've been built by general consensus and are ignored at distinctive cost - losing or alienating the reader at the forefront. Moreover, while I'm all for making room for changes brought by common usage (such as using 'I could care less' for 'I couldn't care less', which is becoming common and therefore OK in its way), typo games such as the Y/you do not even claim to convey some distinctive pronunciation (is there a sub way of mouthing 'i' rather than 'I'? If not, why not use those sub speech rules which countless BDSM bodice-rippers have made popular, such as having the sub speak of herself only in 3rd person derogative, as in 'this lowly slut needs to go potty please'? Sorry for the disgression) are completely gratuitous and stand no chance of making it to common parlance.

So I agree it's OK for private exchanges or group bonding - and you could argue that posting to a BDSM MB falls into such a category - what really riles me is to find it used to write whole book-length stories. So maybe my initial post was misdirected, especially since you say Bug spares her site readers the hassle of deciphering that new form of pig Latin.

Sorry if I sounded abrasive. I believe in BDSM fiction as a literary genre, and Jinn's policy of no censorship is a huge contribution, but that does not preclude vigorous debate, on form and substance.

btw, I agree that Bug's avatar is cool!

oh i didn't know that some submissive spoke in third person jeanne. i thought only role play games such a gor did that *grinz* i learn something every day. i only speak in third person if my Master says i have to and i agree, i would much rather speak like a normal person instead of third person. it does sound a little degrading, which makes me wonder how M/many are into the lifestyle seeking just that.
